Week 8-Secrecy

Week 8 titled, “Secrecy” was an amazing episode-one of the best I’ve seen from the show in a long time. Unfortunately this blog is not dedicated to the rambling of episodes but rather to the disheartening choice of wardrobe we’ve seen this season. And as yet another week rolls on by, I am back from Thanksgiving break to discuss the ensembles of last week’s episode. While this week was not as horrible as some of the previous ones, I was still a little disappointed. The casual pieces were cute, and comfy, while the higher end choices and dressier items were just, well, blah.

The first piece I liked was Emily’s cable knit white sweater. It was cute, casual, and perfect for fall. It was not anything special but was nice to see something that was an everyday item that someone like myself can relate to.  It is beautifully knitted and the pattern was timeless and feminine. The sweater is a "Casey" crewneck by Club Monaco and is made of Merino wool. It retails for $149.50, a great deal for a quality sweater. The sweater showed Emily in a more vulnerable light, which is not a common thing to see in regards to this particular character.

The only evening wear I liked was Margo’s sleeveless mustard-colored crepe dress. The color is very in this fall and is extremely flattering, especially when paired with cute dark boots and dark hair. The dress is by Jason Wu, a name very well known and a high-end designer. It is part of his fall/winter collection. The dress is sleek with impeccable tailoring. It also is racerback-styled and a small rear slit. It is made of 95% virgin wool, and is lined, making it a warm, comfy fall dress. This particular one retails for $1,850.  I actually was obsessed with this dress, it is beautiful, dainty, while still durable and "French classic".

While the black and white color block is “in,” I really do not care. I hate it. Therefore I particularly hated this next item.

While the black and white color block is “in,” I really do not care. I hate it. Therefore I particularly hated this next item. Victoria Grayson wears this black and white wool shift dress by Michael Kors. It sells for $1,460.89 and features a scoop neck, short cap sleeves, and a knee length skirt. I mean, the dress itself is just a plain shift dress, which is fine, but the color block kills me. Also, for whatever reason this dress jut did not flatter the actress wearing it at all. Usually, she looks good in most everything but not this time. It could also be the fact that it makes her look like an orca whale with the black shell, and white underbelly. Yikes.

Emily is just feeling the casual Friday vibe this week. I loved a teal-green shirt she had on while jut being “revengy” surfing the web at her house. The shirt is the sleeveless T.Tahari with a zipper front that is no longer available. It was retailed for $108. It is made of polyester and has a plunging v-neckline featuring that unique zipper front to create an urban, young, piece. It is pinched on the shoulders and flows down creating a slouchy yet feminine fall. The teal-green color looks great on the actress and gold bracelet accents the color nicely. The messy side pony pulls the outfit together looking “messy chic.” Again, it is weird to see this character in pieces such as these that are so casual and show such clamness. I would wear this shirt, as I’m sure many other people my age would as well.

Unfortunately Revenge skips an episode because of the holiday so I will have to update you all when it returns to tv. But for now, pray that the pieces are more beautiful than ever for next week!
